kitchen designMaking the most of your home doesn’t have to render you homeless. Whether your budget is short or venti, a Saskatoon decorator and design specialist can help you make your home more functional and give your house pride a healthy dose of pep.

Chantelle Butterfield used her experience as a colour expert, kitchen and furniture designer and decorator to start her homebased Funktional Space business two years ago. She was working for a kitchen design company when she found herself responding to clients who wanted to get her advice on so much more than just cabinet colour. Chantelle says that starting something she “absolutely loves” has been the best decision she’s ever made. Apparently it’s working out great for a lot of other people, too.

home decor“For under $100 for a two-hour consultation, many people are happy with some advice and a plan,” she says. “Others want a more intensive consultation.” Chantelle shops with many of her clients. Some people simply give her free rein and the request to ‘make my place look amazing.’ If you’re not really sure what you’re putting together, “you ultimately spend a lot of time, gas and money trying to put together a look you’re not happy with,” says Chantelle.

Hannah and David Froehlich lived through upgrades in the past and faced a complete house renovation. We needed help, admits Hannah. My goal was to move quickly, save money and not waste on anything, not even a pail of paint. Chantelle looked at the project and listened to me. Then we shopped for art, colour, flooring, draperies, furniture and accessories. Every choice I made was with pleasure and complete confidence, adds Hannah. We’re so pleased with result.

I see their belongings and what will work with something they already have,” she says. “I will never railroad people into doing something. They have to feel great about what we put together.”

Hannah’s enthusiastic recommendation may ally any fears people may have about tasting that first helping of decorating support. Our project moved quickly. We’re pleased with result, she says. With Chantelle, decorating is fun!
